DJI recently unveiled the AP100 Parachute for Matice 400, designed to protect platforms, payloads, and the ground below.
The DJI AP100 Parachute is designed for the Matice 400 drone and helps meet operational safety requirements. This is helpful during a drone crash situation where the parachute will be deployed, potentially safeguarding the device, the ground below, and especially the payload.
The device can be mounted on an existing Matrice 400 and operates as a stand-alone safety module. The system continuously tracks the status of the gas generator and communication links, delivering real-time anomaly alerts. It is equipped with an independent flight control systems and sensors, while incorporating intelligent algorithms to cross-validate drone and parachute data in real time, significantly mitigating the risk of accidental deployment.
The AP100 does not rely on the Matrice 400’s power or an active e-port connection. Instead, it has a built-in dual capacitors that can provide up to 1 hour of independent backup power. It also comes with an independent Flight Termination System (FTS) that will cut motor power within 600 ms when triggered, preventing entanglement with the rotors.
The parachute device can be deployed automatically or manually. It will continuously emit high-intensity flashing lights and loud alarms for about an hour to warn people on the ground to leave the area and assist operators in recovering their equipment.
The device weighs around 935g and can only reduce flight time by approximately 6 minutes. It is IP55 weather-resistant and maintains stable performance at temperatures of -20°C to 50°C and at altitudes of up to 4,500 meters.
The DJI AP100 Parachute is priced at USD 1,050 (~PHP 64,726.79) and is available through DJI Enterprise Distributors.
