Making Restaurant Booking

Making Restaurant Booking There is a new craze for certified foodies! Yes, online booking of restaurants here in the metro has become very popular now. And another online restaurant reservation system is here to help you lessen your struggle in making phone calls or lining up for a crowded spot at in-vogue restaurants in Manila – the Dineout.

Dineout works so easily, you only need to identify the name, date and time of the restaurant you’d love to visit and Dineout got your back in reserving you a table. And if in any case you don’t know a good place to eat, Dineout is also to the rescue in giving you list of choices that could satisfy your cravings depending on your mood and location.

Lenard Pascual, co-founder of this platform said, “Filipinos love dining out for any and no occasion at all.” Maybe this is where he got this awesome idea of online reservation platforms like Dineout.

Dineout also proffers a big asset through its reward system. Freebies like drinks or discounts at affiliated restaurants will be given to customers who used the online service. And what more, they can also earn points after every consumed reservation which are convertible into gift certificates. “Our goal is to make reservations easy, accessible, and rewarding,” said Pascual.

Customers can use the reservation system for free. Though for startup, a fee per seat or a flat rate per month will be charged for restaurants in their network. But if ever customers don’t show up, Pascual assures restaurants of no risk for lost revenue in case reservations lead to empty tables, as the restaurants don’t have to pay of the service.

This amazing idea was a product of the brilliant minds of Lenard Pascual, Dalvin Lim, Andrew Wu and Jarvin Gabitan who all have experience in IT.

An inspiration for this idea, Pascual says, is the OpenTable in the US. “I looked it up and experienced how convenient it was to make reservations. Being a techie and foodie, I wanted to have a similar service back home.”

Dineout provides a reservation management system (RMS) that aids in making restaurants’ day-to-day operations efficient. Through Dineout, restaurant managers are able to confirm customers’ reservations instantly, manage the wait list, receive real-time notifications, and generate reports on market trends anytime, anywhere.

“Most of the restaurants here still do things manually. Things can get a little confusing for the staff during peak hours. With the RMS, they’ll always know who’s next in line,” he explains.

Resources and client acquisition are among the challenges that the business is facing. “We have bootstrapped our operations from the beginning and it is hard to compete with companies with large funds.”

With only 21 restaurants in its network, Dineout is battling it out to win clients and users, and earn the distinction of being the preferred reservation platform in the Philippines. Their network is much smaller compare to two established players in Manila – Eat Out Manila and Residiary, both of which have backing from overseas.

But Dineout boasts of two unique things – aside from being an all-in-one solution for restaurant management, reservation and customer rewards, it’s also a platform “created and develope by Filipinos for Filipinos,” notes Pascual. “We can argue that we know more about what users want than our competition do.”

With over 1,000 active users, Pascual says he strives to gain at least 3,000 active users by the end of the year.
