DICT Rolls Out Mindanao Integrated Government Network

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has launched the first phase of the Mindanao Integrated Government Network.

This is a project under the National Fiber Backbone initiative aimed at improving connectivity among government offices in Mindanao.

The network connects around 500 government agencies and facilities across major areas, including Cagayan de Oro, Butuan, Davao City, Koronadal, and Pagadian.

It is designed to provide a shared digital infrastructure that allows government offices to exchange information more efficiently.

According to the DICT, the project is expected to benefit around 5.3 million people through faster access to government services.

Agencies connected to the network include the Department of Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and the Office of Civil Defense.

During disasters and emergencies such as typhoons, floods, and earthquakes, connected agencies are expected to exchange information more quickly to help improve response efforts.
