Prominent tech companies like Apple, Disney, and Warner Bros Discovery paused their online advertising campaigns on X (formerly Twitter) following Elon Musk’s antisemitic comment on the platform.
This action came after Musk replied to a post on X that accused “Jewish communities” of promoting “hatred against whites.”
Also, both Apple and Disney confirmed they suspended their X/Twitter ad campaigns, as reported by Axios and The New York Time. Similarly, Warner Bros Discovery, IBM, Paramount Global, and Lions Gate Entertainment also ceased advertising on the platform.
IBM shared through an announcement its “zero tolerance for hate speech and discrimination and we have immediately suspended all advertising on X while we investigate this entirely unacceptable situation”
This move by major corporations deals a significant blow to X’s finances, given its heavy reliance on advertising revenue. Losing these advertisers could have a substantial impact on its financial health.
