Daylight shooting
From first glance, it can be easily seen that the Vibe K4 Note’s outputs are warmer and more reddish in terms of color than the Zenfone Max. Brightness was more favorable on the Vibe K4 Note that of the Zenfone Max while sharpness is quite the same for both smartphone camera shooters in daylight outputs.
On HDR outputs, we can clearly distinguish that the Zenfone Max’s outputs are bit more washed out while the Vibe K4 Note delivered fairly accurate colors, in which detail is more preserved.
Low light and night shooting
On night shooting, we were able to see the sudden change in colorization from both handsets. The Vibe K4 Note delivered a softer color while the Zenfone Max came with reddish and warm outputs.
For sharpness, the Vibe K4 Note came up on top, with its crisper and clearer outputs, though it wasn’t something that should be cheered upon. Noise control on night shooting was quite poor from both handsets though we felt that the K4 Note did better in that department. Flash shooting was favorable on the K4 Note since it delivered a more favorable flash experience and exposure.
Selfie shooting
Night selfies were seen to be better on the Vibe K4 Note, thanks to its balanced coloring, however, the Zenfone Max’s night selfie shot did deliver a brighter output overall. Sharpness was fairly at the same level.
For daylight selfies, it was clear that the Zenfone Max delivered a better output over its opponent, thanks to its sharp and clear daytime selfie.
Verdict
Both phones have their strengths and weaknesses in various departments, such as the Vibe K4 Note’s excellent color blendings and the Zenfone Max’s warm and at times sharp outputs, however, it’ll depend on which would you value better.
