Apple will soon make iPhones compatible with USB-C charging standards. Although the firm has resisted providing a precise timetable for the move, based on numerous rumors, expect the iPhone 15 or 16 series to be the last to use the lightning connector. Greg Joswiak, Marketing Lead at Apple, who was speaking on the sidelines of WSJ’s Tech Live conference, provided the update.
Joswiak responded, “Obviously, we’ll have to comply, we have no choice” when asked about Apple’s plans to transition to USB-C for iPhones. This response from the Apple official shows the company is being forced to make the shift.

Apple’s position on this forced shift was made apparent by Joswiak, who claimed that the business always trusted its engineers rather than deciding on standards that legislators approved.
Joswiak was curiously asked if iPhones sold in non-EU markets will also need to adhere to the USB-C charging rule, but he declined to comment. Apple will likely create different standards for iPhones, inevitably driving up production costs and logistical difficulties. While Apple has been considering a wireless future for iPhones, it is safe to conclude that it will not likely materialize in the next two years.
