AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 with Dual 3D V-Cache Unveiled

AMD has unveiled its latest flagship desktop CPU, the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is the first CPU in the Ryzen lineup with dual 3D V-Cache. It comes with a massive 208MB total cache, with 16MB from L2 Cache and 192MB from L3 Cache (64MB of 3D V-Cache and 32MB standard cache). This setup is said to deliver an increased performance boost over the Ryzen 9 9950X3D.

The processor features Zen 5 architecture with 16 cores and 32 threads. It has a base clock speed of 4.3GHz and maximum boost clock of 5.6 GHz (slightly reduced compared to the 5.7GHz of the Ryzen 9 9950X3D). It also comes with 200W of TDP, which is currently the most power-hungry in the Ryzen lineup.

Similar to other Zen 5 chips, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is compatible with the AM5 platform, with support for DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 5, and Precision Boost Overdrive 2. Additionally, it is unlocked for overclocking and uses second-generation 3D V-Cache.

According to AMD, the processor can offer up to 7% better performance in V-Ray and Blender compared to the 9950X3D, and around 5% to 7% faster in Puget for DaVinci Resolve and Geekbench multi-core. It also offers up to 13% faster performance in AI and simulation, and 8% faster performance in Unreal Engine compilation.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 will launch on April 22, although official pricing details are yet to be revealed.

Stay tuned for more updates.
