Android 8.1 now shows public WiFi network speeds before you connect

Andoird 8.1 has been out for weeks now but that doesn’t stop Google from adding more features to its latest update release. Google is now rolling out a new feature that will let you see the speed of a WiFi network before you connect.

It’s not going to give you the exact bandwidth readings but, it’ll show the overall performance into categories to give you an idea about the speed. Labels will be visible on every Wi-Fi that your phone will detect. Labels like “slow” (under 1Mbps) or “OK” (1-5Mbps) , but “fast” (5-20Mbps) and “very fast” (20Mbps and above).

Unfortunately, this feature won’t work with password-protected Wi-fi networks.
