Download Google Now Launcher ‘now’ while you still can. An email sent to Google Mobile Services (GMS) partners indicates that the application will be removed from the Google Play Store somewhere around first quarter of 2017.
Google Now Launcher will soon be ‘unpublished’ from the Play Store but will continue to support and apply updates for those who already have it on their devices and tablets via the Google Search App.
Starting March 1, the launcher will be removed from the optional GMS and devices released after the said date do not have to replace the Google Now Launcher after updating to the newest Android platform.
Third party Android devices can now ‘easily implement‘ Google Now cards through Google Search Launcher Services library found on the Android 7.0 Nougat so a stand-alone app won’t be needed anymore.
Google Now Launcher was first released in February 2014, marking three years of its existence on the Google Play Store, and providing us an android-stock feel in our home screen.
