It seems that everything nowadays is shared among friends and family, with the exception, hopefully, of droplets. As part of Apple’s AirDrop feature, users can share photos, files, videos, and much more with other Apple devices quickly and easily.
The AirDrop app makes it possible for you to physically drag and drop an image directly from your phone to your iPad using your fingers instead of having to use your mouse to do it.
For AirDrop to work effectively, both your iPhone and the iPhone of your sender or target must have their WiFi and Bluetooth turned on and remember that you must unlock all devices before you begin sharing through AirDrop. If you have a personal hotspot on your device, Apple recommends you turn it off.
Various files can be AirDropped, but I will choose a photo for this example.
To send your photo, click on the Share button at the bottom of the screen.Located at the bottom left of your screen is a small square with an upward-pointing arrow in the corner.
There are several sharing options available when you tap Share. You can select AirDrop from the list.
The list of people you can see includes those who are nearby. You can set up to receive AirDrop only to your contacts list and those in your contact list or set up to receive AirDrop to Everyone.
The person you AirDrop a file or photo to must accept it if they wish to receive it when you AirDrop it. When you send an image to someone else using their device, it appears on their device when you send them the picture.
Exceptions to this rule include situations where the sender and receiver are associated with the same Apple ID, meaning that you own both devices.
It is possible to go to Settings and select General from the dropdown menu. Afterward, you will be given the option to use AirDrop.
It is also possible to swipe down to the control center and press and hold the card that shows the network settings (where the WiFi and Bluetooth settings can be seen). As the card expands, you will see that AirDrop is included; tap on that and then choose whether or not you want to receive data from contacts only or everyone.
When your settings block AirDrop, you can’t turn it on when you tap on it because you can’t turn it on when you tap on it. Follow these steps to fix this problem:
1. Click on the Settings button
2. Click on “Screen Time” and select the desired time
3. If you would like to learn more about content and privacy restrictions, go to
4. Then tap the Allowed Apps button
5. Ensure that AirDrop is enabled on your device
A popup will appear on your phone screen when someone sends you a photo using AirDrop. It will show you a preview of the picture, the name of the person who sent it, and the option of accepting or declining the file.
Therefore, if you have the option set for All Users in your Photo Library, someone around you cannot just drop a picture in your Photo Library. Using AirDrop and expect you to accept it, even if your Photo Library is set for Everyone.
You can use AirDrop to transfer files or photos from your iPhone to your Mac by following the same steps described above. Using the same Apple ID on both devices will ensure that everything you send to your Mac is automatically received on your iPhone without you ever having to approve it beforehand.
If you have an Apple device, you can use AirDrop to share almost anything that can be shared on your Apple device, including documents, photos, contacts, songs, videos, links to apps or websites, and many more.
If you were sent anything via AirDrop, you would be able to find it using the same app from which it originated. The pictures you receive will go into your photo library, and your contact cards will go into your contact list.
Please be aware that AirDrop is not a messaging app, so if you receive a link to a website, it will open in Safari, and once you close that, you will not be able to navigate back to the link that was sent to you.
