New Twitter Feature Lets Users ‘Unmention’ Themselves

As part of Twitter’s latest update, there is now an option to unmention yourself on tweets, threads, and conversations that you do not wish to be included in.

The ability to leave a conversation, untag their username, stop further mentions of the thread on the platform, and block notifications about a conversation, in particular, allows users to take control of what they want to be engaged with.

The three-dot menu next to any tweet will allow you to show the options available to you for unmentioning yourself on that tweet. You will then need to select the option to leave this conversation In the following pop-up, you’ll be asked to confirm the action by selecting leave this conversation again in order to close the window.

It is important to note that your account will no longer be tagged on the Tweet, but your username will still appear on it as black text without having any account associated with it.

As of today, Twitter is slowly rolling out the new unmentioned feature on all devices, which can be used by anyone on any device.
