Meta earlier announced the launch of its Facebook Reels globally and is going to be available in more than 150 countries.
Reels is a short-video feature just like TikTok. It was originally launched on Instagram in 2020 and on Facebook in 2021.
Alongside the launch, the company also introduced new creative tools and features as well as monetization options for creators to make money from their Reels through advertising.
The tech giant introduces their Reels Play bonus program, a part of their USD 1 billion creator investment, that can pay eligible creators up to USD 35,000 a month based on the views of their qualifying reels. In the coming months, the company will expand the feature in other countries as it is now only available in the US.

Facebook Reels Ads
Meta is expanding tests of Facebook Reels Overlay Ads to all creators in the US, Canada, and Mexico, and to more countries in the coming weeks. There will be banner ads that appear as a semi-transparent overlay at the bottom of a Facebook Reel, as well as sticker ads. These non-interruptive ads enable creators to earn a portion of the ad revenue.
The company will also roll out paid Stars and provide creators to use its automated ad-placement feature in almost all countries where in-stream ads are accessible. This means people can buy and send Stars while watching reels to support creators.
