UPDATED July 28, 2020 – Smart, Globe launch 5G signal in the Metro Manila and select cities nationwide along with 5G-ready SIM cards and smartphones. Dito Telecommunity, the 3rd telco, is expected to start its operation in March 2021.
The 5G or fifth generation wireless technology will be launched in the Philippines starting this 2019 via rollout process. Both Globe and SMART-PLDT telecoms are leading the rollout for consumers and businesses while Mislatel as 3rd major telco to target 2020 for its 5G launch.
There is still no definite release date from either telco aside from a 3rd quarter estimate availability from Globe and Smart. However, the testing phase has started in 2016 for Smart. The pilot 5G cities have been announced too including Makati, BGC in Taguig, and Clark in Pampanga. It is also expected 5G will be available first in major tourist areas like Boracay Island, Cebu City, and in Davao City.

Dito Telecommunity as 3rd major telco has started building its infrastructures and they plan to release 3G and 4G first with the 5G rollout happening in the middle of 2020.
