On the 18th of July, Xiaomi launched their latest addition to Redmi series dubbed as the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and its toned down version Redmi 6A held at Marquee, Shangri-La Hotel.

The Chinese manufacturer boasts that these handsets are their entry-level smartphone kings. Here’s our thought with Xiaomi Redmi 6A Unboxing and First Impressions.

What’s inside the box?
The latest Xiaomi Redmi 6A comes with a regular rectangular orange box with a smartphone written emphasizing the 6A and a company branding at the top right corner. And at the back is, of course, some relevant information of the device.
Inside the box contains the 5.45-inch Redmi 6A device, underneath is the user guide and at the bottom layer are SIM ejector tool and a USB 2.0 charging cable together with the adapter neatly arranged. And yes, it doesn’t come with earphones so we have to buy our own when we purchased this device.
Design
The Redmi 6A is built with a metal body that isn’t prone to fingerprint smudges. At the back panel is the horizontally aligned single camera that houses 13-megapixel, a Xiaomi branding, and the speaker grille.
At the bottom are the USB 2.0 charging port beside the microphone and another microphone at the top beside the 3.5mm headphone jack which we are thankful despite the earphones missing in the box.
Physical buttons are located at the right side while SIM and micro SD trays are on the left. The Xiaomi Redmi 6A dimension measures 147.5 x 71.5 x 8.3 mm weighing 145 grams.
As for the design, there’s nothing much to be excited about since its design is really common in the industry except for the speaker grille that has an unusual placement. This may encounter a bit problem when playing music while the phone is lying down.
Display
The Redmi 6A features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD HD+ display with a screen resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.
As I was browsing the smartphone, the display is not that vibrant and also has this creamy tone which can be customized on display settings. (Settings > Display > Contrast & colors)Â
Aside from that, if you’re into reading, then this device has the reading mode to automatically adjust the display blue light emission. The MIUI 9 also offers shortcuts such as double tap screen to waker and raise to wake.
Bothered with tap buttons at the bottom? Well, full-screen gestures can be enabled on Redmi 6A. (Settings > Full-screen display)
Camera
Xiaomi Redmi 6A sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.2 aperture paired with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a f/2.2 aperture with AI Portrait mode and Beautify feature.

Other Features
This device is powered by MediaTek Helio A22 quad-core processor clocked up to 2.0GHz. It comes with a RAM and storage variants of 2GB/3GB RAM along with 16GB/32GB internal storage. The smartphone is fueled by 3000 mAh battery capacity and runs Android 8.1 Oreo.
