Xiaomi just unveiled its newest flagship smartphone globally, the Xiaomi 14T. This time, Xiaomi is integrating some AI capabilities.
However, with all of these smartphones coming with AI features, what does the Xiaomi 14T have that will stand out in the AI smartphone market? Let’s find out in our review of the Xiaomi 14T.
Design and Build
Premium—that’s what comes to mind first upon unboxing this device. It looks elegant and smooth.
Looking back at the Xiaomi 13T, this model features a similar camera module, which is a rounded square. When laying the smartphone on its back, it doesn’t feel bulky at all.
What’s more is that it is made of a metallic aluminum alloy deco. It also has two designs, one made of glass and another made of PU.
Speaking of design, the Xiaomi 14T is available in four colors: Titan Gray, Titan Blue, Titan Black, and Lemon Green. What we have is the Titan Gray color, and it weighs 193g.
Taking a look around its frame, the Xiaomi 14T has its power button and volume rockers on the right, making them easy to press with your thumb, especially when holding the phone with one hand. The left side is clean, while at the bottom, you will find the speaker grille, charging port, and, of course, the SIM card tray.
Display
When it comes to its display, the Xiaomi 14T features a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2712 x 1220. The vibrant display delivers great quality, contrast, color accuracy, and good brightness while I’m streaming videos.
Speaking of brightness, this smartphone offers up to 4000 nits of peak brightness, making the screen visible even under the scorching sun.
Personally, I prefer its flat display. I’m more accustomed to flat screens, as they feel safer in my hands and are easier to grip and hold. Overall, I can say that this device has an excellent display for both casual use and entertainment.
Camera
The Xiaomi 14T’s camera setup offers a lot to explore, and it’s easy to see why. Starting with its 50MP main camera, powered by Sony’s IMX906 sensor, I noticed that in well-lit environments, the results are impressive. The details are sharp, shadows are accurately captured, and the overall clarity is great.
However, in low-light situations, the photo quality drops. I noticed some blurring and graininess in the pictures.
The 50MP telephoto camera has 4x optical zoom but is a bit limited by its smaller aperture. Still, it does a good job for everyday zooming, capturing decent details from a distance.
Plus, the 12MP ultrawide lens lets you get creative with wider shots.
Lastly, the 32MP front camera, tucked neatly in a punch-hole cutout. It captures images with natural skin tones with well-defined shadows. It has an impressive amount of sharpness and details with a wide dynamic range.
Performance
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300-Ultra, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.
During my performance tests, I watched movies non-stop on the Xiaomi 14T and didn’t notice any heating issues initially; however, after three to four hours, I did notice a slight increase in temperature. Fortunately, even with this heat, there were no stutters or lags. I truly enjoyed the viewing experience, and the volume is impressive, making it particularly immersive for entertainment.
The phone runs on Android 14 with Xiaomi’s HyperOS. However, it comes with several pre-installed apps, so I recommend uninstalling them after setup to declutter your experience and free up space for your preferred apps.
Benchmark Results
Battery and Charging
As for charging, the Xiaomi 14T only needs 50 minutes to go from 0% to 100% using its 67W charger.
In our video loop test, the Xiaomi 14T lasted about 23 hours and 12 minutes from 100% to 0%. For casual users, this means the device can easily last more than a day and a half without needing a charge, which is pretty impressive!
Pricing
As for the pricing, there are two configurations available. One is 12GB + 256GB, priced at PHP 25,999. For bigger storage, a 12GB + 512GB configuration is also available, priced at PHP 27,999
Conclusion
Overall, the Xiaomi 14T left me impressed with its premium design and vibrant display. It feels great in hand, and the flat screen adds a sense of safety while using it.
The camera performance is solid, especially in well-lit conditions, although low-light situations could be better. I also appreciated the fast charging and excellent battery life!
So, would I recommend the Xiaomi 14T? It is suitable for everyday use and entertainment, but it depends on how you use your smartphone.
The fast charging and long battery life are major advantages for users who are always on the go. While the camera could improve in low-light conditions, its features and competitive pricing make it a worthwhile choice for anyone looking for a well-rounded smartphone. This device is definitely worth considering.
