After CAAP’s announcement regarding its strict ban on power banks exceeding 160Wh on both domestic and international flights, Singapore Airlines (SIA) also announced a new policy.
Starting April 1, 2025, Singapore Airlines will no longer allow passengers to charge portable power banks using the onboard USB ports or use power banks to charge their devices during flights.
Singapore Airlines Power Bank Policy
According to their post on their official Facebook page, this policy follows the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations, as power banks are classified as lithium batteries.
With that being said, passengers must carry power banks in their cabin baggage, as they are not allowed in checked luggage.
Just like in the Philippines, SIA allows power banks with a capacity of up to 100Wh without restrictions. Those between 100Wh and 160Wh require airline approval before travel.
