The PSA claimed the ePhilID and physical ID share a security feature.
The PhilSys card number, last name, given name, middle name, suffix (if provided), sex, blood type, marital status (if declared), date and place of birth, front-facing photo, address, creation date, and QR Code are also included.
The QR code comprises demographic information and the registrant’s front-facing photo for easy verification. Public-private key cryptography protects the code’s data.
PSA says the printed ePhilID can be used for transactions in all national government agencies, local government units, government-owned and controlled enterprises, government financial institutions, financial institutions, and the private sector.
It will replace national IDs for people without them.
The PSA warned that violators of Section 19 of Republic Act 11055, the Philippine Identification System Act, will be punished.
ePhilIDs are available to PhilSys-registered Filipinos with PSNs.
They must book an appointment on the PhilSys website and bring the transaction slip to their chosen Registration Center on a reserved day.
The ePhilID can only be printed in Metro Manila, Bulacan, and Pampanga.
