From the dewdrop notch to the gradient design at the back, nothing separates the two devices. Although they look alike, the Redmi Note 7 comes with the advantage of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 allowing for better drop & scratch resistance.
Moving over to the display and it’s about a tie with both using IPS LCD panels at 1080p+ resolution. Where you might want to turn your attention to is the camera.
While both are sporting dual main camera setup, the Redmi Note 7 is no doubt the leader with its massive 48MP + 5MP depth sensor. The same story can be said for the selfie camera with its 13MP vs the 8MP of the Mi Play.
As for the performance, the Mi Play may be sporting a slightly updated Helio P35 with its 12nm process node but the Snapdragon 660 performs better in general tasks and games.
The Redmi Note 7 continues to pull ahead with its massive 4000mAh battery that charges at a rate of 18W via USB Type-C port.
At 4GB/64GB, both the Redmi Note 7 and Xiaomi Mi Play is around Php9,000. From this point, it’s already obvious that the Redmi variant is the better phone. In fact, you can even go for as low as Php8,000 for the 3GB/32GB model.
