Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro

Nubia, a brand managed by ZTE, has announced today the new generation of its gaming smartphones with improvements in several areas. The Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro are the new smartphones dedicated to gaming to equip Qualcomm’s next-generation processor after the launch of its rival, the Redmi K50 Gaming.

One of the biggest highlights of the new generation is the Red Core 1, a custom chip responsible for optimizing tasks and systems related to games, such as reducing latency in the response of 500 Hz side triggers, improving the vibration engine and generating light effects in running games.

Starting from its new design – but which inherits elements from the previous generation – we have color options similar to the predecessors that have RGB lighting over the “RED MAGIC” logo on the rear, in addition to versions with lights in the ventilation system. The finish is glass and you can choose between opaque and transparent versions.

Both have 6.8-inch AMOLED screens with FHD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) distributed in a stretched 20:9 aspect ratio, 10-bit color depth and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut. The base model has 600 nits peak brightness, 165Hz refresh rate and 720Hz touch sampling.

The Pro model offers more brightness, with a maximum of 700 nits, in addition to delivering a faster touch sampling of 960Hz. On the other hand, its refresh rate is 120Hz.

The Red Magic 7 and 7 Pro are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s most advanced processor. The first model will be offered in 8GB and 12GB RAM versions with up to 256GB of internal space; the second will have the maximum option of 18GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, enough to store dozens of games.

Although photography is not the focus of the segment, the manufacturer emphasizes the triple camera of smartphones. Both have a 64MP main lens that supports 4K recording. There’s also an 8MP wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens.

For selfies, the Pro model sports an under-screen camera with a resolution of 16MP. The base model houses the 8MP front sensor on the top edge of the display.

The Red Magic 7 supports 120W fast charging, which can fill its 4,500 mAh battery in just 17 minutes, according to the company. The Pro model brings even more advantageous autonomy, using fast charging of 135w to fill its 5,000 mAh battery in just 15 minutes.

The high charging power also requires a more advantageous cooling system. The ICE 8.0 is the new generation of the heat dissipation system that has a fan of 20,000 RPM (revolutions per minute) and a “duct” connected to a secondary air inlet, which will contribute to a 35% improvement in the flow of air, according to Nubia.

The fan produces a low noise of just 28 dB, which shouldn’t detract from the gamers experience. The set is capable of keeping the hardware at a temperature of just 16ºC. The devices are running Android 12 under Red Magic 5.0.
