Design
Let’s first check out their similarities with the design elements. All-screen display, check. Front camera, earpiece placement, check. Rear camera placements, another check. Finally, SIM trays, also a check.
Now for their slight differences in design. The A83 is slightly longer than the V7 and is heavier when held together. Also, the fingerprint scanner is only available on the Vivo V7.
Display
The OPPO has a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) 18:9 display and the Vivo V7 has the same 5.7-inch display as well. Brightness levels and color representation also looks the same.
Camera
The rear shooter of the OPPO packs a 13 MP camera while the Vivo has a 16 MP rear camera. The Vivo may have a slightly higher camera spec on paper but does it say so on photo results?
The first outdoor shots are very identical. Both the OPPO and the VIVO delivered bright and vibrant outputs. Though the sky on the Vivo looks brighter than the OPPO’s shot.
The second shot are somewhat at par with detail sharpness. However, color representation and brightness are the noticeable differences with the Oppo sticking to a warmer yet vibrant tone compared to the cooler vibes of the V7.
Night-lit shots are very identical, though the darker result is from the Vivo. Also, Vivo staying color accurate compared to the latter which turns some originally yellow lighting sources to white.
Selfies, however, are more color accurate on the V7 which leans on to the original skin tone of the subject compared to the Oppo which gives us white-pinkish tone.
Both phones also have a beauty filter which on the A83 makes the subject’s eyes pop out more and does not remove some facial features like hair strands and beauty marks which the V7 does. Even when AI beautification is turned on, selfies still looks natural on the OPPO.
The front cameras also have a depth effect mode which in our opinion works better on the V7 compared to the blurry edges finish of the OPPO.
Low lit shots on the Vivo sometimes mix lighting with the subject’s skin tone which removes the original skin tone compared to the Oppo.
Video recording on both phones can also go up to 1080p at 30 fps.
Chipset/Processor/Rom
The A83 is powered by Mediatek Helio P23 while the V7 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset, with 3 GB of RAM on the Oppo and 4 for the Vivo. Using the following benchmarking tools, we received these results in the process:
Device | AnTuTu | Geekbench (single-core) | Geekbench (multi-core) | PCMark Work 2.0 |
Oppo A83 | 67,496 | – | – | 3,754 |
Vivo V7 | 54,876 | 773 | 3,860 | 5,632 |
Gaming on both phones are pretty decent and we didn’t experience any lag even on high graphical rendering games. Although the OPPO A83 doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, it features Face Unlock.
Battery
Through our ManilaShaker Battery Rating, we can confirm the following overall lifespan of both devices:
Device | Battery | Battery Time | Charging-Time |
OPPO A83 | 3,090 mAh | 32h 28m | 1h 50m |
Vivo V7 | 3000 mAh | 31h 30m | 1h 30m |
Audio
Loudspeakers are both located at the bottom part of the phones. The VIVO audio is significantly louder than the OPPO which you can take a listen right here.
