In order to stream HD videos from several streaming sites like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc., the smartphone needs support from Widevine Level 1 DRM. However, the OnePlus 5T only supports Widevine Level 3 which is only capable of SD video streams.
Users have been complaining about this issue for over a week now at the official OnePlus forums. Good thing is, the Chinese company confirmed an update to fix the issue but they still haven’t released an exact date of the said update.
But when the update comes, it still doesn’t help the smartphone’s situation since it already had to fix some glaring software mistakes aside from the HD streaming issue. Well, at least they’re going to do something, right?
