Toyota Motor Philippines is gearing up for the highly anticipated comeback of the beloved Toyota Tamaraw later this year. Set to unveil the next generation model in the final quarter, Toyota aims to commence production by the third quarter of the year. This new iteration marks the third completely knocked down model to roll off Toyota’s assembly lines in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.
Anticipated as a convertible light commercial vehicle, the upcoming Tamaraw is positioned as a practical and budget-friendly option for micro, small, and medium enterprises, as well as local government units and cooperatives. With an eye on versatility, Toyota’s investment of PHP5.5 billion encompasses parts localization and vehicle conversion to facilitate various functionalities.
Flexibility defines the new Tamaraw, which can be easily adapted into different roles such as a medical van, police car, food truck, transport vehicle, or refrigerated freight carrier. This adaptability reflects TMP’s commitment to meeting diverse market needs.
As a joint venture between the Ty family’s GT Capital Holdings Inc., Toyota Motor Corp., and Mitsui & Co. Ltd., TMP has been a stalwart in the automotive industry, boasting an impressive overall market share of 46.2 percent. This position was further bolstered by the successful introduction of five new models in 2023, driving increased sales volumes.
Regarding pricing, although there’s no official confirmation yet, there’s speculation that it will be available with a starting price of about PHP750,000.
With Toyota’s announcement of the forthcoming Tamaraw, stakeholders and car enthusiasts alike eagerly await its arrival. What do you think of the upcoming Toyota Tamaraw?
