What we have here today is one of TECNO‘s latest releases, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G, an affordable offering that can compete against premium gaming smartphones in the market.
But aside from its intended purpose, what else does this phone offer? Is it worth the price? Let’s find out!

Out of the box, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G has an eye-catching appearance that TECNO calls the “Interstellar Spaceship” design.

Its rear panel looks premium with geometric lines, plus a Mini LED status light. In terms of dimensions, it weighs 201g and has a thickness of 8.87mm. It feels a bit heavy, but it offers a decent grip despite the glossy finish.

As for the features around its frame, you will find the power and volume rockers on the right side, a speaker grille and microphone on top, and another speaker grille, microphone, USB-C port, and SIM tray at the bottom.
Design-wise, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G offers a clean, futuristic appearance that both looks and feels premium. It also has an IP64 rating for dust and splash resistance, though a higher rating would have been better.

Moving on to its display, the POVA 7 Ultra 5G boasts a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2800 x 1260, paired with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i.
Using it for multimedia consumption provides punchy colors, smooth performance, and decent viewing angles.

There are no visible color shifts when viewed from the side, and the slim bezels add to its premium appeal. Outdoor use is also not a problem, thanks to the high peak brightness.

For cameras, the POVA 7 Ultra sports a dual rear setup with a 108MP main shooter and an 8MP ultrawide. The punch-hole cutout in front houses an 8MP selfie camera.
Rear Camera Sample Shots
In terms of quality, the rear camera captures images with ample detail and sharpness, along with decent color reproduction and a wide dynamic range. While it’s not the best camera performance out there, it gets the job done.
Low-light Sample Shots
In low-light photography, the Super Night Mode does a decent job of improving shots taken in darker conditions. However, photos are still better when taken with good lighting to avoid softness around the edges.
Front Camera Sample Shots
For selfies, the front camera delivers good-quality images with true-to-life skin tones and acceptable clarity.
When it comes to video recording, the rear camera can shoot up to 4K at 60FPS, while the front camera can shoot up to 4K at 30FPS.

Now, let’s talk performance. Under the hood, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G is powered by a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Ultimate.
Our review unit comes with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. For software, it runs Android 15 with HiOS 15 on top.

Out of the box, it comes with several pre-installed applications, but these can be uninstalled easily. Productivity performance is excellent, apps open quickly, navigation is smooth, and stutters are rare.

For gaming, we tested Zenless Zone Zero. With settings on Low plus 60FPS, we got smooth performance with only minor stutters that were barely noticeable.
Benchmark Results
Here are some of its benchmark results.

As for battery, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G packs a 6,000mAh battery with 70W fast charging and 30W wireless charging.

In our video loop test, it lasted around 15 hours and 11 minutes. Charging from 0 to 100% took only about 42 minutes, which is impressive given the large battery capacity.

Finally, the price. The TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G retails at PHP 16,999 for the 16GB+256GB configuration.
Overall, the TECNO POVA 7 Ultra 5G is a solid device designed for gaming. It looks premium, offers impressive battery life, and delivers strong performance.

While the cameras are not its strongest point, if you’re looking for a smartphone that offers excellent performance at a price far lower than premium devices, this is a must-buy.
