Samsung has introduced the new Samsung 990 SSD.
It’s a PCIe 4.0 NVMe solid-state drive designed for gaming, content creation, and everyday PC use.
The new SSD comes in 1TB and 2TB storage options. The 1TB model offers sequential read speeds of up to 7,150 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s, while the 2TB version reaches up to 7,250 MB/s read and 6,450 MB/s write.
For random performance, the 1TB model delivers up to 700,000 read IOPS and 1,100,000 write IOPS, while the 2TB model reaches up to 850,000 read IOPS and 1,200,000 write IOPS.
According to Samsung, the new 990 SSD is up to 38% more power efficient than the previous Samsung 990 PRO. It also supports Samsung Magician Software, which provides firmware updates, drive health monitoring, performance optimization, and data migration tools.
The Samsung 990 SSD uses the M.2 2280 form factor and supports the PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe 2.0 interface.
It features Samsung V-NAND memory, an in-house controller, AES-256-bit encryption, and a three-year limited warranty. The 1TB model is rated for 400TBW (Total Bytes Written), while the 2TB version is rated for 800TBW.

Once available, it will be sold through Samsung Storage’s official stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as partner retailers including PC Express, Infoworx, Octagon, The Net, JW Summit, PC Hub, Thinking Tools, Dynamic PC, Datablitz, and Memo Express.
