Mozilla Adds AI Controls to Firefox Starting Feb 24

Mozilla is adding new AI controls to its Firefox browser.

Starting with Firefox 148, users will be able to manage or block AI features directly in the desktop browser settings.

The new AI controls will feature

  • Enable and disable translations for web pages.
  • Add accessibility descriptions to images in PDFs.
  • Use AI-enhanced tab grouping for related tabs and suggested group names.
  • See link previews showing key points before opening a page.
  • Access a sidebar AI chatbot, with options like ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, and Le Chat Mistral.

Users can also choose which AI features to use or block them entirely with a “Block AI enhancements” toggle.

Preferences are saved across browser updates and can be changed at any time.

Early access to AI controls is available in Firefox Nightly. Mozilla is inviting feedback through Mozilla Connect.

The new Mozilla AI controls will start to roll out on February 24, 2026.
