Meta has announced new AI-powered features across Facebook and Instagram.
A new Meta AI support assistant is now rolling out globally on both apps for iOS, Android, and desktop.
The tool provides 24/7 help for common account issues, including password resets, privacy settings, and profile updates. It can also assist with reporting scams, impersonation accounts, and other problematic content.
According to Meta, the assistant can respond in a few seconds and may complete certain actions directly within the app.
It also provides explanations for content removals and allows users to track appeals.
Early access for login-related support is currently limited to select users in the United States and Canada, with wider availability planned.
Meta is also expanding the use of advanced AI systems to improve content moderation.
The company said early testing shows these systems can detect more scams, impersonation attempts, and policy violations compared to existing methods, while reducing errors.
In one example, the AI systems were able to identify thousands of scam attempts per day that were not previously detected. They also reduced reports of impersonation involving public figures and improved detection of harmful content such as fraud and illegal activity.
The new systems are designed to work across a wider range of languages and adapt to regional differences, including slang and evolving online behavior.
Meanwhile, human reviewers will continue to handle more complex cases, such as appeals and high-risk decisions.
