Finally! It’s here! LG’s newest weapon for the smartphone race, the successor to the LG G5, and the “new-generation smartphone” as LG claims it – LG G6 is now official.
The G6 is not already a surprise for us after countless leaks circulated the internet before its official launch. But anyway, here’s a rundown of LG G6 main features.
Say goodbye to the modular phone as the G6 joins the unibody construction made of glass backing with a metal frame. Colors will let you choose from Ice Platinum, Astro Black, and Mystic White. Such cool names. It’s an IP68 rated water and dust resistant body which allows being submerged under 1.5m water level in no more than 30mins.
The FullVision display basically describes the G6 where it was first explained here. LG wasted no time why they came up with the unique 18:9 aspect ratio of the G6.
Apparently, companies offer flagship lineup with a base model and a plus model which is just relatively bigger in size. So, what LG did is to combine the large screen of the plus model and incorporate it into the compact body of the base model. And poof! You have a large yet palm-friendly G6.
The company is also offering $200 USD worth of in-game content for Google Play Store in which you can fully experience and take advantage of the G6’s FullVision display. That is if you will buy the G6.
There will be two color standards when viewing any content from the FullVision display – HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. What it does basically is to provide more colors, better contrast ratio, and dynamic scene optimization when watching a video.
All of these will be displayed on a 5.7-inch IPS LCD screen with a 1440 x 2880 resolution, resulting to 564ppi of crispy images.
The stylish design language continues to the flushed dual-rear camera using two 13MP sensors. The second sensor basically allows 125-degree wide angle shots making it perfect for panoramic shots and much more(as long as you are creative). A 5MP sensor lets you shoot a 100-degree wide selfies.
First implemented on the LG V20, you can now enjoy crisper high sound quality playback and recording thanks to the improved 32bit Quad-DAC technology installed on the G6.
First available on the Google Pixel, and now with G6. For some reason, the company was able to convince Google to let them use their very own Google Assistant. So there’s that.
