With the launch of the Mate 80 Series in China, HUAWEI has taken it a step further by introducing Smart Hanhan, its first AI-powered emotional-companion pet, during the Mate 80 Series event.
Smart Hanhan is a small plush device, measuring 80 x 68 x 82 mm and weighing 140 grams.
It combines fabric, silicone, plastic, and electronics and is designed for emotional interaction rather than entertainment.
The device uses HUAWEI’s Xiaoyi AI system to detect emotions, tone, and context, allowing it to respond naturally.
It reacts to voice, touch, and movement, with stroking or tapping changing its facial expressions and shaking causing a trembling reaction.
Smart Hanhan also features a 1800mAh battery, which HUAWEI claims can last up to 6–8 hours of continuous use or over 48 hours under normal daily use. A full charge takes around six hours.
The companion works with HarmonyOS 5.0 or later on devices such as the HUAWEI Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate X7, and Mate 80 RS.
It also connects to the phone to record daily interactions.
The HUAWEI Smart Hanhan is available in three colors: blue, yellow, and gray. It is priced at CNY 399 (approx. PHP 4,700) in China.
