Gaming Handheld firm GPD has unveiled its latest device, the GPD XP Plus. It is the world’s first modular android game console that has detachable gamepads with magnetic connectors.
The GPD XP Plus comes with 3 different controller modules: MOBA Controller Module, FPS Controller Module, and Xbox Controller Module. These gamepads also charge via magnetic contacts and won’t fall off easily as these have 1.1kg tensile force.
For specs, it sports a 6.8-inch LCD screen with a 720p resolution and a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by MediaTek’s 6nm Dimensity 1200 with Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The chip has a MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 feature which optimizes gaming performance. In addition, the android game console also comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB UFS 3.1.
For connectivity, it supports dual-band WiFi 6E, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort 1.2. It packs a 7,000mAh battery capacity with a USB C 30W PD charger.
There’s also a 5MP front camera for selfies. For OS, it boots Android 11 with GPD Metro UI skin on top. Audio is being handled by stereo speakers and a built-in key mapper tool for an immersive gaming experience.
The official pricing and availability of the device are yet to be revealed but it is available for pre-order on Indiegogo.
