Google Introduces Side-by-Side AI Mode in Chrome

Google

Google has announced new updates to AI Mode in Google Chrome.

The updated feature allows users to open webpages side-by-side with AI Mode on desktop.

This lets users read content while asking follow-up questions without leaving their current view. The system can also use information from the open page and other sources to provide answers in context.

Google says this setup is designed to help users compare information more easily, whether they are shopping for products or researching topics.

For example, users can open a product page and ask questions about it directly within AI Mode.

Another addition is the ability to include open tabs in searches. Users can select recent tabs, images, or files such as PDFs and combine them into a single query. This allows AI Mode to generate responses based on multiple sources at once.

The feature is available on both desktop and mobile versions of Chrome. It can be accessed through a new “plus” menu in the search bar or within AI Mode.

Google also noted that tools like Canvas and image generation are now integrated into the same menu, making them easier to access during browsing.

The updated AI Mode in Chrome is currently rolling out in the United States. Availability in other regions has not yet been announced. Stay tuned.
