Geely has just started their operations last year but so far captured a significant chunk in the Philippine auto sales. With only the Coolray being available at launch, the company still managed to sell a handful during this pandemic and beating some established brands.
Enter the Geely Azkarra, a new crossover SUV, and a more capable one over the Coolray that was launched a couple of months ago. With its additional 48V battery, the Azkarra with mild hybrid electric power undercuts most of its competitors by price and features.

Electric Motor battery provides extra range and power
The engine powering the Azkarra and Coolray is a 3-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo gasoline but the Azkarra offers more horsepower and torque, thanks to the 48V Electric Motor Synergy. The total output of Geely Azkarra is 190 HP and 300 Nm–which is incredible for its segment.
This also makes the Azkarra one of the very few hybrid and mild-hybrid cars available in the Philippine market. And what’s more fascinating is that the Azkarra is an SUV with attractive pricing.
The 48V EMS technology on the Azkarra is intelligently charged through cruising and via regenerative braking and it provides extra kicks when accelerating. That’s why the Azkarra is able to reach 100km/h within 10 seconds.
Top-notch interior and safety
Along with the 6 SRS airbags, the Geely Azkarra also features leather seats and panoramic sunroof which is usually found in more expensive vehicles. It has a 42-ambient color lighting in the cabin and tactile piano-styled A/C buttons that will provide extra ease and comfort for the passengers.
The Azkarra also features a wide 12-inch digital infotainment system and a 7-inch digital cluster gauge as well as a panoramic sunroof.

Despite being in the compact SUV platform, the Geely Azkarra can travel to both highway and off-road easily, thanks to its handful driving features. It has both the Hill Start Assist and Hill Hold Control while having an All-Wheel Drive system. And both the ample ground clearance and 18-inch wheel provide extra security when on the road.

For a P1.4-million starting price, the Geely Azkarra 48V EMS is undeniably one of the more affordable SUVs that is loaded with features and performance. And its category, it is the only SUV available, as of this writing, that has a hybrid-electric system.
