Apple’s VR would be loaded with camera, would cost $3,000

It has been rumored that Apple is developing its own VR and AR headset and with recent reports, it seems that it is becoming a possibility. According to The Information, the VR headset would cost about $3,000, which is around PHP 144,293. It will also be featuring an 8K resolution, a powerful processor, and tons of awesome sensors and cameras.

In a rendered image that surfaced, the headset would be lighter due to a fabric mesh that would cover the exterior. The headbands would also be similar to what the Apple Watch has as wristbands. And somehow this is the same description that surfaced a month ago in Bloomberg.

When it comes to processor power, the VR will be powered by Apple Silicon and would be more powerful than the usual M1 processor due to the fact that it would run 8K resolution in its display. However, it would not always provide 8K resolution but would use a technique called “Foveated rendering.” This would let the headset dynamically scale resolution based on where the user would focus on the screen.

Because the headset would be using AR, it would also include tons of cameras to record movements and LIDAR sensors to map movements. We can hopefully expect Apple’s VR headset to arrive sometime in 2022 and sometime from that, we can also wait for Apple’s release for a lighter VR for the mainstream.
