AirTag Can Now Be Detected by Your Android Phone

Google announced last month that unknown tracker alerts would be coming to Android, and now they are. It can be downloaded from Google Play on smartphones with Android 6.0 or later. But it can only find AirTags that have been put on you or are going with you.

You can find the unknown tracker alerts page by going to the Settings app > Safety and Emergency > Unknown tracker alerts. People who are still using Android 11 or lower versions of the operating system can find the feature in the Settings menu under “Personal Safety.”

When this feature is turned on, you will get a notification that a Bluetooth tracker that you don’t know who owns it has gotten away from its owner and is moving with you. The tech giant says that if you tap on the alert, you can learn more about the tracker and see a picture of where the tracker was seen going with you.

On top of that, there will be a “Play sound” button that will make the tracker make noise so you can find it without the owner knowing. This tool works with Apple AirTags right now, but it will also work with other brands in the future.

When the tracker is next to the back of your phone, this function will tell you things about it, like its serial number and the last four digits of the owner’s phone number. You’ll also get advice on what to do next and how to turn off the tracker literally.
