Redmi’s Indian branch started a teaser promotion for the Redmi 12 a few days ago. The phone will be released in India on August 1. Some areas have had the phone since mid-June, but for some reason, it hasn’t made it to India yet.
Also, the big reveal is still a few weeks away, so there’s plenty of time for teasers. A lot of hints. Redmi’s main Twitter account announced today that the Redmi 12 will get a new color for the Indian market. It’s called Moonstone Silver, and the brand calls it “a stunning colorway that is unique and glorious.”
Again, the upcoming smartphone’s “crystal glass design” is highlighted, since a glass back isn’t usually expected at this price point. Still, we have to mention again how amazing it is how much the Redmi 12 and the Redmi 10 from 2021 are alike. The design is different, but other than that, they’re almost like very close brothers, which may be why Redmi keeps bringing up the glass back and doesn’t tease us with much else.
A short teaser movie has also been put out by the brand, and it’s all about design. Go figure! This one shows us some of the most important changes to the Redmi’s design language over the years, and, you got it, it all comes to a head with the Redmi 12.
The phone will be promoted by actress Disha Patani. It has a 6.79-inch 1080×2460 90 Hz LCD touchscreen, a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC, 4/8GB of RAM, 128/256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage, a triple rear camera system (50 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide, and 2 MP macro), an 8 MP selfie camera, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W wired charging support. It uses Android 13, and MIUI 14 is on top of that.
