It is Wednesday finally! The long wait is over and I honestly can’t wait to watch the Loki. But before we go and enjoy every moment with this Mischievous Norse God, let us first know some tidbits regarding the show and how it can affect the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Warning, there will be spoilers coming from the MCU movies that would be playing a major role in the Loki TV series. With that said, let us go and start!
The Time Variance Authority or the TVA plays a big role in the series as they are the organization that captured Loki after he alters the proper flow of time by escaping with the use of the Tesseract. In the comics, the TVA plays a similar role as the police and guards the timeline against anomalies who would try to alter it. You could say they are like the Time Bureau of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
Now, in the series, we will get to know Morbius M. Morbius who would be played by the ever-funny guy, Owen Wilson. In Marvel Comics, Morbius is an agent of the TVA who investigates dangerous anomalies like that of Loki. There is little we know of his MCU counterpart as Wilson is stingy in sharing any information about his character. But he is one character we would keep our eyes on as the story progresses.
As Loki escaped, he then unknowingly creates a branched reality or an alternate timeline. This not only made alternate realities in the MCU but introduces us officially to the existence of the Multiverse. Hinted in the first Doctor Strange movie wherein sorcerers get their energy through the Multiverse. This was then again hinted at in Spider-Man: Far From Home as Mysterio tells Peter that the Multiverse is real and his reality is called Earth-616, a reference to the main Marvel comic book timeline. Although at the end of the movie, it was revealed the Mysterio was just a vengeful ex-employee of Stark Industries. Now, we get to see and even get an explanation of how MCU’s Multiverse works.
According to the godfather of MCU movies, Kevin Feige, Loki does tie in with the Sorcerer Supreme’s second movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. As both characters have already met back in Thor: Ragnarok, this is one good opportunity to reintroduce them. However, this is a different Loki we are talking about, which we would be getting at later on.
Loki, along with Morbius, would be traveling through time, fixing time anomalies which in theory would cause chaos in the Multiverse. This might catch Dr. Strange’s attention and, fingers crossed, he might lend a hand in fixing Loki’s chaos?
Now, as you are going to watch the first episode of Loki, be reminded that this is a different Loki you are watching. Nope, this one didn’t experience the events of Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, and this one didn’t die by the gauntlet hand of the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
Expect that he is more mischievous than ever and brings chaos where ever he goes. This also might bring new light to the villain as he turns a new leaf and tries to be a hero for a change. But whatever he does in his TV series, we can’t wait on what kind of chaos and mischief he would bring for us to see!
You can catch Loki every Wednesday only at Disney Plus!
