Fresh from its release, the OPPO R17 Pro might look like just another device from the Chinese company but this time, it’s bringing in exclusive features in which you can only find around the Php50k mark.
At a glance, the Oppo R17 Pro is reminiscent of the Huawei P20 Pro – shining purple and blue-ish gradient. While it may look like an ordinary gradient hue, upon hands-on, it’s a matte gloss finish or “3D fog glass” as Oppo wants to call it. As a result, it doesn’t attract fingerprints that much as opposed to the disgusting smudge from other glass-clad phones. On top of that, the teardrop notch is also here.
They say that if you’re going to copy someone else’s work, copy the good things. Originally found in the Note 9 and Galaxy S9, Oppo has done a great job in bringing the variable aperture to the R17 Pro. Basically, this allows for better low-light photography. Combined it with their Ultra Night Mode feature, photos at night are going to be lit.

What seemingly becoming a standard, Oppo didn’t hold back with another new feature via its fingerprint scanner. Sure thing, it’s not as fast and accurate as the traditional type but it’s a convenient feature to have especially when checking notifications without picking up the phone from a table.
If I have to live with the shortcomings of a smartphone in exchange for a specific feature, it’s either 3 days battery life or very fast charging. Originally found on the exclusive (and expensive) Oppo Find X Lamborghini Edition, the R17 Pro is also capable of topping up from 0 to 100 percent in solid 35 minutes. Need a quick refill, get 40 percent in 10 minutes.
