Threads Just Lost 50% of Active Users

Threads, a Twitter clone developed by Meta, had a launch that was unprecedentedly successful, gaining 100 million users just a few days after its debut.

However, the findings of a recent investigation indicate that the victory may have been fleeting. According to research published last week by the data-tracking website SimilarWeb, the number of daily active users on Threads has decreased by approximately one-half, going from 49 million to 23.6 million in just one week!

The data for the study was collected primarily from Android usage since, according to SimilarWeb, it is simpler to track data for Android than it is for iOS.

However, the group stated that Apple’s numbers will be made public within the next few weeks.

“Threads is missing many basic features and still needs to offer a compelling reason to switch from Twitter or start a new social media habit with Threads” stated SimilarWeb in its research, which highlighted that Twitter’s user retention is also dropping.
