Tekken 7 was launched nearly eight years ago, and Tekken Mobile (2017), Tekken7: Rematch (2018), and Tekken 7: Definitive Edition (2018) have now been upgraded (2021). Pokkén Tournament was released a few months after Tekken 7. Last September’s Tekken 8 announcement delighted enthusiasts, and upcoming videos and trailers reveal the new entry’s gameplay elements.
Bandai Namco published a video with Tekken Project Executive Director Katsuhiro Harada and Game Director Kohei Ikeda explaining gameplay features borrowed from and built on previous games. “Aggressive,” “Vision,” and “Combat Direction” are the battle concept tenants. The designers want more action, better aesthetics, and greater player comprehension of match momentum.
The gameplay summary covers Rage system updates from Tekken 6. Rage Drive from Tekken 7 is gone. Instead, players will enter a Rage State after taking enough damage, increasing damage output as health decreases. Harada and Ikeda say expert players may want to stay in the Rage State to maximize damage output rather than trigger Rage Art.

The film then focuses on the health and healing gauge. Tekken Tag Tournament inspired this new primary system (1999). This version is more interactive. Players’ health gauges glow white when they take a hit. Resting, evading, or blocking does not heal. To replenish the white portion, the contestant needs to knock their opponent.
A detailed “Heat” system boosts attack speed and damage when activated. A meter under the health bar displays this. Get your strikes in before the heat meter fill lowers rapidly after activation.
The main video discusses player controller styles. “Arcade Mode” is the real Tekken. However, a “Special Mode” that mixes Easy Combo and Assist from Tekken 7 does not need command memorization, making narrative mode more accessible.

We’re excited about the latest Tekken game’s emphasis on action and speed. The Tekken 8 will be available on Steam for PC, the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X|S.
