The Phantom Fold V was Tecno‘s first phone that could be folded. It came out in March of this year. It is still the least expensive phone that folds in half horizontally. In the foldable phone market, there are also clamshell folding phones, which seem to be more common because more brands have made them.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, OPPO Find N3 Flip, Motorola Razr Ultra, Vivo X Flip, and other phones stand out. Now, Tecno is set to join the trend with a phone called the Phantom V Flip that folds up like a clamshell.
Early this month, leaked models and a hands-on photo of the Tecno Phantom V Flip showed us what the phone looked like. The coming product also has Bluetooth SIG and FCC approvals, which don’t say much about it. Now, the folding phone with a clamshell has been added to the Google Play Console list.
On Google Play Console, the Tecno Phantom V Flip is marked with the model number AD11, which is the same as for other certifications. It shows that the device will have a dimension of 1,080 by 2,460 pixels and a screen density of 480 dots per inch (dpi). A MediaTek MT6893Z/CZA system-on chip, which could be the Dimensity 1300, is mentioned in the approval list as being inside the phone. It will have a Mali-G77 GPU built into it. The Tecno Phantom V Flip is said to come with 8GB RAM and Android 13 OS right out of the box.
Reports from the past say that the Tecno Phantom V Flip will have a big 6.9-inch AMOLED screen. Leaked models show that the back of the device has a circular module with a 1.39-inch secondary screen and a camera ring with 64MP and 13MP sensors. The brand seems to be trying something new, since cameras and screens are usually kept separate. Also, the Phantom V Flip’s FCC approval showed that it will be powered by 1,165 mAh and 2,735 mAh battery cells that can be charged quickly with 45W.
