
Sony has introduced its three new high-performance G Lenses; the FE 50mm F2.5 G (model SEL50F25G), the FE 40mm F2.5 G (model SEL40F25G), and the FE 24mm F2.8 G (model SEL24F28G). These lenses are perfect for photographers and videographers alike which would surely help your shots stand.
The lenses are perfect especially when paired to a Sony full-frame camera or APS-C. The three lenses have a similar size (68mm diameter x 45mm), the same filter diameter (49 mm), and almost the same weight (FE 50mm F2.5 G 174g; FE 40mm F2.5 G 173g; FE 24mm F2.5 G 162g). When using a gimbal, the internal focus lens can be interchanged easily. It has also a similar stylish exterior design but the focal lengths are marked for quick switches.
These three lenses use aspherical elements and ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements which help give high-resolution and suppressing color fringing. To achieve stunning bokeh for the G lens, the lens has an optimized circular aperture which delivers up to the widest point of each lens.
As for focus distance, the FE 50mm F2.5 G lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.35m (AF) / 0.31m (MF) while maximum magnification can reach 0.18x (AF) / 0.21x (MF). An ideal lens for a variety of scenes and objects,
The FE 40mm F2.5 G lens features minimum focus distance of 0.28m (AF) / 0.25m (MF) while a maximum magnification of 0.20x (AF) / 0.23x (MF). This is perfect especially if you want your subject to stand out against backgrounds.
For the FE 24mm F2.5 G lens, this has a minimum focus distance of 0.24m (AF) / 0.18m (MF) and a maximum magnification of 0.13x (AF) / 0.19x (MF). This is ideal especially for close-ups that will blur out the background.
It may be compact in size, these lenses have features that are ideal for high operability. The lenses have a focus hold button; can be customized from the camera menu and the user can assign any function to the button; an aperture ring; gives a more intuitive and direct feeling; aperture click switch; can be used to turn off if shooting movies.
The three lenses also sport two linear motors which give off fast and precise autofocus. This is perfect especially if the subject is in constant focus for it will provide excellent tracking performance. The AF is quite as well which works for still and movie shooting.
