If you simply don’t want to afford a P50k Note 10 smartphone, perhaps, the Galaxy Book S that costs nearly the same is something you’d want to look at. It’s a thin and light laptop from Samsung that features a Snapdragon 8cx chipset, LTE connectivity, and up to 23 hrs of battery life for $999USD or nearly P52k in Philippine peso.

To be more specific, the specification of Galaxy Book S centers around the Snapdragon 8cx. It’s an ARM-based chipset made for Windows laptops and carries the same CPU cores of Snapdragon 855 — 4 x 2.84GHz Kryo 495 Gold cores and 4 x 1.8GHz Kryo 495 Silver cores. According to synthetic benchmarks, the Windows 10 Pro performance is equivalent to an 8th Gen Intel Core i5 U-Series.
Due to the smaller components inside the device, the Galaxy Book S weighs not a lot at only 0.96kg. That’s despite being an all-aluminum chassis. And when closed, the thickness is just 11.8mm.
Spec-wise, we’re looking at 8GB of RAM with either 256GB or 512GB internal storage, along with an option to expand up to 1TB via microSD slot. The battery is rated at 42Wh to power the 13.3″ FHD TFT display. Samsung is also claiming up to 23 hrs of video playback. Port-wise, there are two USB Type-Cs with one capable of power delivery 2.0, adaptive fast charging, and Quick Charge 2.0. While the last port is an audio jack.
Samsung Galaxy Book S is available in Earthy Gold and Mercury Gray colors. In the US, the laptop will be sold thru Verizon with the same September release date of the global variant.
