PLDT, Inc. supports the government’s demand for faster internet speeds in the Philippines.
This law, known as the Better Internet Act, was first filed last year to ensure affordable, fast, and secure internet for Filipinos, especially in areas of the country that are underserved or unserved.
The president and CEO of PLDT-Smart, Al Panlilio, responded in support of the government’s demand, saying the company remains dedicated to extending its service and network coverage to fulfill its mission of elevating the quality of customers experience nationwide.
According to the CEO, PLDT’s mission is to provide reliable and accessible networks to Filipinos anywhere in the country, regardless of location.
Moreover, Panlilio stressed that its fixed and wireless internet services cater to different market segments at various price points.
With the completion of 803,000 kilometers of fiber infrastructure in the first quarter of 2022, PLDT now has the country’s most extensive fiber infrastructure. Smart Communications, the wireless arm of PLDT, also uses that infrastructure.
According to Smart, the number of wireless base stations in the country has grown to 76,600.
Sustained investment in the PLDT Group’s network has enabled these improvements and expansions.
