PayMaya has now its own virtual mall! This was launched on Thursday and can be used to purchase goods online whether if it’s in a restaurant, clothing, grocery, and home improvement.
According to the head of growth, marketing, and partnerships for PayMaya, Mark Jason Dee, he stated that the PayMaya Mall was launched as a way to help local businesses who suffered from the pandemic that we are in right now. Although they made it clear that PayMaya does not intend to compete with other e-commerce sites and market places. The purpose of the new feature was to promote and let their 28 million app users experience it “in a different way.”
Dee also made it clear that “PayMaya is not just a virtual wallet as the company also has its enterprise business powering hundreds of thousands of merchants nationwide.”
The idea was brought up, according to Heidi Garayblas; PayMaya’s head of wallet partnerships and usage marketing, when there was a boom in demand in terms of online markets and e-commerce and the lack of physical stores to go to. It then led to PayMaya handling at least 95 billion transactions for their users on behalf of their partner merchants last 2020 stated by Garayblas.
However, PayMaya will not be having its own fulfillment center. They would be directly be linked to their partner’s website which inventory and delivery would be handled.
With this in mind, PayMaya has officially joined Lazada and Shoppee, which previously has dominated in the virtual mall turf.
