Huawei tries to reclaim its budget phone throne as it entries their first phone for 2019 — the Honor Play 8A. Will it be enough to dethrone the Realme C1 that goes for under Php6k budget?
Best Budget Smartphone 2018
Advantages of Honor Play 8A
Advantages of Realme C1
Both designs of the phones are nothing to write home about aside from the fact that they differ in notch size.
As for the performance, the Honor Play 8A has a more capable MediaTek Helio P35 due to its close performance comparison to the Snapdragon 625. The same thing can be said with other specs under the hood starting at 3GB/32GB as opposed to the 2GB/16GB of the Realme C1.
In exchange for better performance, you need to sacrifice the single 13MP main camera and ANOTHER single 8MP selfie camera for the Honor brand. You’ll be basically missing the dual-camera trend which the Realme variant has.
Where the Realme C1 stands out again is its large 4230mAh battery which charges via micro USB. But for the Honor Play 8A, you can bid goodbye to that and say hello to USB Type-C (so long you don’t mind 3020mAh battery).
Neither will be coming with a fingerprint scanner so you’ll be relying on its face unlock feature.
The Realme C1 is on-sale for Php5,990 while the Honor Play 8A is estimated to arrive around Php6,000(before taxes). Assuming the price difference is less than a thousand, it’s hard not to choose Honor’s latest offering as you’re getting double the storage already, not to mention its better SoC.
