Realme Shows Off 4K SLED Smart TV with Bluelight Filter

For the world’s fastest-growing smartphone brand, Realme is trying to expand its influence outside mobile devices. Its first foray was the launch of mobile accessories, such as power banks, TWS, and even backpacks. For the second wave, the company appears to be bolstering its TV lineup, which features the world’s first SLED 4K smart TV. It’s no secret that the company has been trying to get a portion out of the TV market. But with the introduction of the so-called “SLED” technology, how does it stack up against the fan-favorites QLED and OLED?

Realme is calling SLED as an alternative to QLED. Though neither of the two is up there with OLED when it comes to deep blacks and colors, both are color-accurate enough for a modern smart TV. The main difference, however, is the use of backlight technology. If QLED is using the blue backlight to emit red and green colors for a “quantum dot” experience, SLED makes use of RGB LEDs. As a result, the NTSC color spectrum reaches up to 108% compared to the standard LED with 70%. While we can’t tell you how great the color quality is compared to QLED, Realme did boast that its SLED technology allows the blue light to be controlled; thus, letting it pass the TÜV Rheinland certification. Similar to smartphone displays, it’s an attempt to make blue light less harsh to one’s eyes.
