Beyond 4GB RAM is just too much
According to a Weibo post from Lao Shi, Huawei Executive, 4GB RAM is enough to let your smartphone run smoothly, anything more than that is not worth it.
To support her claim, she added that a lot of Huawei devices run better on utilizing 4GB RAM rather than 6GB models. What manufacturers need to focus on rather, is optimizing the OS to be as efficient as possible.

She also added the increase in RAM basically translates to a higher price for the product and it’s not worth pushing more than what is needed for mobile devices. Which is actually true.
Shi made an example of Apple iOS where iPhone devices have a smaller RAM capacity compared to Android devices and yet, runs smoothly and sometimes even better than its competing smartphones. That’s because iOS is optimized to utilize smaller chunks of memory, she continued.
Manufacturers have their own reason as to why they increase RAM whether it’s for smoother multitasking, future-proofing or marketing.
