Xiaomi has recently announced its latest thermal management for smartphones and is inspired by cooling solutions used in the aerospace industry, the Loop LiquidCool Technology.
According to Xiaomi, Loop LiquidCool Technology utilizes an effect that draws liquid cooling agents to the heat sources, vaporizes, and then disseminates the heat efficiently towards a cooler area. This new system promises 2x cooling capabilities compared to existing vapor chamber solutions.

The Loop LiquidCool Technology is equipped with an annular heat pipe system that is composed of an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber as well as gas and liquid pipes. When used in a high workload, the refrigerant present in the evaporator evaporates the gas. Then, it is diffused to a condenser where the gas turns into liquid again. The tiny fibers in the refill chamber absorb and collect these liquids, thus, creating a self-sustaining system. In addition, the company used a Tesla valve structure to ensure one-way high-efficiency circulation.
In a demo, the company used a custom Xiaomi MIX 4 smartphone where the original vapor chamber was replaced with the new Loop LiquidCool Technology solution which kept the device running below a max temperature of 47.7 degrees Celsius after a 30-minute Genshin Impact gameplay session at 60fps Max settings.
Xiaomi plans to incorporate this technology into future consumer smartphones by the second half of 2022.
