Xiaomi’s latest take on a budget flagship is through the new Redmi Pro that features dual lens, dual main cameras setup. The device is also powered by the new Helio X20 deca-core processor (Helio X25 as an option) and sports a new brushed aluminum exterior.
Before our full and in-depth review, let’s take a look at the Redmi Pro thru our unboxing and hands-on.
As always, the retail packing for Redmi phones come in non-fancy design. There’s nothing special inside the box aside from a 2A power adapter and the new USB Type-C data and power cable. You will also find some papers and the SIM ejector tool key which are used to access the hybrid dual-SIM and microSD card slots.
The highlights on the Redmi Pro is the new premium design, thanks to the brushed metal finish, chamfered edges, and slightly tapered back.
The flat dual main cameras on the back will surely catch your attention. These two lenses flanked the dual tone LED flash while the antenna lines resemble the HTC One and OnePlus 3.
After the Mi 5, the Redmi Pro is the next entry from the Chinese company that features USB Type-C port for charging and data. This is then sandwich by the two speaker grill at the bottom but only the right side has a working loud mono speaker.
Positioned on the right side of the phone are the volume rocker and power button made from metal. Opposite on these two is the microSD and dual-SIM card slots tray which is a hybrid. On top is IR or infrared blaster for remote and the 3.5mm audio jack.
The front panel is 5.5-inch OLED with 1080p Full HD resolution. Embedded on the home button is a fast and snappy fingerprint scanner. Meanwhile, on top of the screen are LED notification light, ambient light sensor, and the 5MP selfie camera.
The setup on the back is a 13MP main and a 5MP for the 3D depth sensing and refocusing. Its purpose is typical for most dual lens smartphones but unlike on the LG G5 with different wide angle for each lens.
We have to test it further including the photo and video qualities which we will be sharing in our full review soon.
