Stuck on road traffic? Don’t worry pal! You’re not alone in that dilemma. We all had, we all are and we all will experience that daily road drama. I mean it’s as natural as breathing nowadays. Like it’s part of our daily adventure we even have to commit an additional hour or two of our precious time to the usual, just to get to our destination on the dot. Traffic should be convicted with the gravest sentence as it’s played part in many job losses, breakups and school failures. Here 5 Tips to Enjoy the Road Traffic

But aside from getting late and catching lot of reproaches from your boss or teacher or friend-to-meet, did you know that the gravest obvious part of being stuck on traffic is its ability to consume your energy and damage your brain cells by giving you stress?

You waste too much verve blaming the government system, the undisciplined people, the economy and the reckless drivers on why on earth you are going to be late! But mind you dear, you are fretting over such uncontrollable situation. Yes, it’s uncontrollable so there’s nothing much you can do to lighten the traffic, but you have a say in easing your mood.

So instead of fussing over it, redirect your energy into creating a strategy and of thinking alternative ways for you to not be late. (That is if it’s too crucial for you to be on that appointment on time.) But if you think the future consequence is tolerable, why not take advantage of that time to catch up on other things in your life while stuck on traffic? And as cliché as it may sound, you do have a choice to enjoy… the traffic.

Here are some things you can do:

Amuse yourself by:

  • Listening to music. This is the prime choice of us all. With just an earphone and right mix of music in your “On The Road Alone Playlist,” you can easily divert your attention from the stress of traffic to the relaxing haven you created. If you don’t have earphones, you may enjoy listening to the songs played by the jitney driver via radio stations. Music can also help you unwind and think creatively which uplifts one’s mood.
  • Mulling about life. Sometimes you’ll just find yourself staring blankly into space, like unconsciously a memory just flashed before your eyes and you take time to ponder about it. Take this time to review your current situation in life. Are you doing well in school, in work and in other things? What are the other aspects that you need to exert effort on?
  • Reading books. I always make sure to have a book with me whenever I go out, may it be a physical copy or ebook. It’s a great way to kill time while you wait for the traffic to calm.
  • Observing the people around you. I don’t know about you but personally I find this one truly amusing. I observe how a person reacts on the traffic – is he irritable or just like me taking his time in the world to relax; I listen to the conversations of people around me about random things – I even catch their opinions about societal issues; I observe how a person dresses and try to anticipate his character by the way he style himself; I try to make stories on my mind about the people – what must they be doing in life, are they tired of it, and random philosophical things; and most of all I even get ideas for things to write. I love observing how life in a certain time unfolds.
  •  Taking a power nap. Power nap is dozing off and giving your mind a rest by not totally falling to sleep. Just take a nap, but don’t sleep – be mindful of the repercussions that can happen around you.

Would you choose to get stuck in a nerve-wracking traffic? Or will you choose to make that trip-on-halt a worthwhile one? The choice is yours!
