
As March 2025 officially enters, Skype has officially announced that the telecommunications application will officially shut down in May 2025.
Today, Microsoft has officially announced the retirement of the app. The company said that this is part of its commitment to provide a modern, streamlined communication platform that integrates personal, group, and community interaction in one app.
Upon opening the application, there is a statement that says, “Thank you for being part of Skype,” followed by a message encouraging users to switch to Microsoft Teams for free calls and messaging.
With that being said, users can still use existing credits or subscriptions to make domestic and international calls using Microsoft Teams.
